Leaning over, Lavender kissed the side of his mouth. "That was the plan," she murmured before sitting back in her seat. She smiled and continued to eat her food, watching Rosie out of the corner of her eye.
As soon as Lavender put her fork down, Rosie cried, "Gah!" reaching out her arms. Laughing, Lavender took her from Charlie and perched her on her hip. "Mummy's got you now, Baby Girl." She kissed the top of her head. "You're having a sleepover at Nana Molly's house tonight, aren't you? Yes, you are."
Lavender practically shivered in anticipated when Charlie said that. "Really?" she asked softly. "Because I thought that was exactly what we kept them for." She licked her lips, already looking forward to going home.
"Mmm. Secretly planning a honeymoon and sending our daughter off to her grandparent's for the night... I think that might need quite a bit of punishment."
She blushed slightly. "I prefer being in nothing at all, too. Maybe it'll be too hot for clothes. Don't really think my bikinis count as clothes. Little tiny scraps just to preserve my dignity. Had to get some new ones; all the bras were too small."
Lavender ran a finger around the rim of her champagne glass. "Did I mention that we have a pool all to ourselves? A private, secluded pool?"
Lavender grinned when Charlie pointed out Ron and John. "Aww, bless. It's nice to see him looking so happy for a change." She adjusted Rosie and said, "Looks like Uncle Ron's got a boyfriend, doesn't it, Baby Girl? What do you think of that?"
Rosie looked up at Mummy and blew a raspberry.
Covering her mouth with her hand to try and stifle her giggles, Lavender asked, "And where did you learn to do that, Miss Weasley?" Rosie just smiled gummily at her.
Charlie looked a little sheepish. “That might have been me.” Rosie threw his tags down onto Lavender’s lap and Charlie retrieved them and put them back round his neck.
He looked amused about Ron. He leaned forward and said in a conspiratorial whisper, “A little bird told me that he might be going to Romania fairly soon for a visit. Something he never managed when I was out there.”
Giggling, Lavender looked over at Ron again. "Really?" She gave a snort of laughter. "Bloody hell. He moves fast." Looking down at Rosie, who was now happily sucking her thumb, Lavender said, "I think Daddy's going to have to give a if-you-hurt-my-brother talk to John-boy."
She grinned at Charlie, trying to imagine what would happen if that conversation ever did take place.
Charlie shuddered. “Or not. They’re both big boys. They can look after themselves.” He smiled. “Presumably, John offers something that I can’t. How much sight seeing will be done is debatable. I’m already dreading having to do it for this one.”
Charlie wrinkled his nose in thought. "The bottom bit. Stop it from collapsing for the minute and then people will be able to choose which bits they want."
They cut the cake with the flash of people's cameras almost blinding them and Charlie coughed slightly from the smoke. Molly bustled over and satrted to organise the cutting of the rest of the cake. The band struck up a slightly jaunty tune and some brave couples started to drift onto the dance floor.
